  John Dillinger: Biography 2001

John Dillinger, arguably one of the most prolific writers currently operating within the British Underground, has been involved in the area of music for about 12 years, primarily as the  singer in two political punk bands, AOS3, and P.A.I.N., and has also been writing other material for much of this time.
AOS3 formed in the summer of 1990, and succeeded in breaking out of the small north eastern circuit and playing over 500 gigs at festivals, larger venues, and ultimately touring Europe to great response, especially in Poland in 1993.
AOS3 released two albums, 'God's secret Agent' (Words of Warning records, '93), and 'Diversionary Tactics' (Inna State Records, released posthumously in '95...) as well as two singles, and appearances on numerous compilations and benefit tapes.
They split in the Christmas of '94, just as the Criminal Justice act came into play, effectively banning the majority of their gigs...
In 1995 John headed off to London, and formed P.A.I.N. with the core of musicians who had previously played with the festival legends R.D.F., and set about doing it all over again.
P.A.I.N. released their debut album later the next year titled "Oh my God we're doing it!"( Inna State Records, '96) and began playing the grassroots gigs again, in Britain, and across Europe. At this point they have become the darlings of the radical community, their 'ready to riot' anthem "Oh no, It's the Pigs!' becoming the soundtrack of most European Protests for the last two years.
John has been variously known as, Matthew Phillips-Schofield, Adam Weishaupt, Aiwiss Frei, and Mr Whippy... He has kept the wolf from the door with varying degrees of success by stints as Philosophy student, Night Watchman, Miniature Cottage Painter, Keyboard Salesman, Computer Expert ( He lied...), Golf Club worker, and even Prince Of Wales Community Venturer... Consequently he is a Republican, as the Prince only paid Thirty Two Pounds a week...
In 1998 P.A.I.N released a self produced ep of 5 songs called Dub-Ska-Punk(P.A.I.N Records 98) and in 1999 a collaboration E.P. with Howard Marks called "Let me Grow More Weed" (Iron Man Records '99).
At the minute John is working to promote the second P.A.I.N. album, titled 'O.U.C.H' (Iron Man Records 2001) and an album by his other band LESS called "I'll see you never work again  taunted Florence" (Iron Man records 2001). LESS is a collaboration with various members of the festival band Spannerman, and is on a sort of Jazz/Hardcore disturbing sort of tip! LESS have also revived a few of the better AOS3 songs, and breathed new life into them.
Secret preparations are being made to release an album of Johns studio based projects under the guise of "Legion of Dynamic Dischord,"(Iron Man records 2001) and a cd of spoken word poetry and notes taken from the last few years of activity.
Consequently, John is very confused, wouldn't you be?
John is continuing to write a collection of short stories, and not officially giving up on the 'novel-in-progress...' yet, there'll be plenty more poetry too, as he can't help himself!
