  John Dillinger

Despite his notorious career in organised crime, and subsequent 'assassination', it would seem that Mr Dillinger is alive and well, and persuing his less recognised talent as a poet. Many commentators have expressed doubt that this is indeed Mr Dillinger at all, preferring to believe the 'assassination' myth, and pointing to his apparent longevity, but offering no real suggestions as to the 'true identity' of this mysterious bard.

Some scholars have suggested that Mr Dillinger may indeed be hiding behind a false identity, and that his true identity may be Teutonic occultist Adam Weishaupt.

There is no doubt a stylistic similarity to the verse attributed to Mr Dillinger, and the clearly Hashishim inspired lyric Grow More Weed, which we know to be the work of Weishaupt. I seems, however, that the controversy will continue for some time yet... we will refrain from comment on the correct identification of either poet until the evidence is more conclusive.

In the meantime, here is a selection of Dillinger's work.
